Creating the perfect home office

Working from home is now becoming normal for most of us as we navigate through this health crisis. Most probably do not have a dedicated workspace at home; and having a functional workspace is essential to be productive. Here are some tips we at Home Creations have come up with to help you create a functional workspace or home office.

Find a private place in your home

Working from home can become chaotic and noisy, which leads to distraction. Have you ever had a thought, and then got distracted? What happens next? Do you remember what you were thinking, what your plan of action was or what you were going to do next?  This happens to all of us! The best thing to do is to separate your office from the rest of your home. For some, your home might already have a dedicated home office that has yet to be used. Now is the perfect time to put a table and chair in there and get to work! For most, a spare bedroom or the dining room may be the perfect spot to get some work done. Wherever this may be, find a quiet place to claim as your workspace.

Find the best lighting

No one loves to stare into a bright computer screen for hours upon hours. Doing so, can cause headaches and eyestrains. It is best to situate your workspace next to a window or an area that has good lighting.

Organize

Now that you have found that perfect spot to claim as your home office, it is time to clean and organize. Remember, productivity needs to be the No. 1 focal point when creating your workspace. It is best to have a clean area that is free of any personal items that can cause distraction. This area needs to be dedicated to work only!

Maximize the space you already have

If you have a smaller area, try building or buying shelves that can be hung from the wall. This will help get things off the table and allow you to setup a computer, notepad or anything else you need to get your work accomplished.
