Getting around Norman

As the 3rd largest city in Oklahoma, Norman is a diverse community with many distinct areas. West Norman grows increasingly rural as you move west of I-35 toward the Canadian River, which serves as a natural city boundary. I-35 is the city’s commercial corridor, packed with major retail shopping, dining, and entertainment, while downtown Norman, home to the University of Oklahoma, offers the quaint charm and character only a college town can provide. Once you cross 12th Ave NE, residential areas start to spread out and the scenery opens up as you head toward Lake Thunderbird. HWY 9 serves as a boundary to the south and Tecumseh Rd to the north.

Travel time from Norman to Surrounding areas

Norman is located squarely on I-35, with convenient off-shoots to I-44 West via the H.E. Bailey Spur and all points east via HWY 9. Norman is also close to I-240, which connects you to I-40 running east and west across the state. The city’s prime position along the I-35 corridor also makes road trips north and south a breeze.
