Medicine Park / Wichita Mountains
One of the cutest towns in Oklahoma, Medicine Park offers an array of outdoor activities. Enjoy a day of hiking, or even driving, through the Wichita Mountains. You can also visit bison and longhorn cattle by driving through the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge.
Gloss Mountain State Park / Little Sahara
For those who have never ventured to north central Oklahoma, consider visiting places such as Gloss Mountain State Park and /or Little Sahara. Gloss Mountain, located near Fairview, Okla., has beautiful mesas. There is only one trail at Gloss Mountain, which goes up the mountain, about 200ish stairs, providing beautiful views of Lone Peak Mountain. The glass-like ground and even glass coming out of the mesas is a sight to see!
Just 25 miles northwest of Gloss Mountain is Little Sahara. Now you may think it’s strange to see a desert in northern Oklahoma, but Little Sahara attract several visitors who love adventure. This 1,600-acre park features sand dunes fit for all-terrain vehicles and even camping areas for tents and RVs.
Turner Falls
Take a drive down to southern Oklahoma, specifically Davis, Okla., to visit the largest waterfall in Oklahoma! Visitors can swim, camp and hike in the area. While visiting, be sure to get a delicious fried pie on your way back home!
Pawhuska
Enjoy a road trip to Pawhuska. Located just south of the Kansas-Oklahoma state line, this cute small-town has tons of local shopping, Tallgrass Prairie Preserve, Osage Hills State Park, and the Woolaroc Museum & Wildlife Preserve. After visiting all of these amazing attractions, stop by The Pioneer Woman Mercantile! If you have not been, this is a must! This two-story historic building welcomes thousands of visitors each day. The store is stocked with popular kitchen items, recipe books and toys. But let’s not forget about the food! Enjoy a nice lunch or dinner featuring hearty portions of home cooked food.

It may seem far, but Amarillo, Texas is only a 4-hour drive from Oklahoma City. For those who love the outdoors, we recommend visiting Palo Duro Canyon State Park or Cadillac Ranch. Open 24/7 Cadillac Ranch showcases public art and sculptures. For those looking for hiking, Palo Duro Canyon State Park is a great place to visit. Known as the Grand Canyon of Texas, this park features colorful mesas and multiple hiking trails.
